CBS will be br inging back another one of its vet eran dramas for the 2019-20 TV seas on. A nnoun ced this afterno on, the network has o fficially rene wed “NCIS” for its seventeenth season. T he n ews comes afte r st ar and executive producer, Mar k Harmo n, si gned a new deal wi th CB S to reprise his r ole on the series. “NCIS has been a global juggernaut for almost two d ecades,” said CBS Ent ertainment Preside nt, Kel ly Kahl. “Its viewer s are clear ly the most loyal of a ny drama on television. The y are passionate about the characters , the plotlines and the storytelling. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the gift ed prod uction tea m and th e cast, led by the extraord inar y Mark Harmon. We are delighted that the show will rema in a li nchpin of the CBS schedule this coming seas on.” In its curren t season, “NCIS” has been avera ging 12.2 million viewe rs in the live + same day ratings, making it TV’s se cond-most-watched scripted series, beh ind only “Th e Big Bang Theor y.” It has remained a strong performer for CBS, in b oth its ratings and viewership numbers, and w as widely c onsidered to be a strong renewal con tender l eading up to the announcement today.
