Following the s uccess of their feature deb ut Jennif er’s S hadow (200 4) – an ex ercise in American Gothic set in a s cary land called Argentina – Pablo Paré s and Daniel de la Vega worked for a US company on a post -mega-disast er wasteland zombie f ilm in whic h Sou th America had been turned into an all-purpose, all-materia ls j unkyard, wi th the undead a s the la st h umane entitie s aroun d (forget about the humans here!). The proj ect never materiali sed, but Diego Parés, P ablo’s brother, started to w rite and draw a comic series based on the sc reenplay – which so far remains a ruin, as only par ts wer e finished and pub lished. The ECish beauty a nd balls of Di ego P.’s labour of love have now been congen ially transf ormed by the dire ctorial duo into a delightfully old-(1 970s )school low-budget produc tion, closer to Ro mero a nd Dante than F ulci and Lenzi.
